They turned down a fight with Eddie Chambers for the USBA heavyweight title - his management knew he couldn't win, so they wisely chose to have him fight the shot Terry Smith, who had lost his last two fights (and three of his last four).

The Terry Smith of a couple of years ago would have beaten Kevin Johnson.
yea, like I said, I was never impressed with this guy. I was giving more rounds to him than you were, you must have been missing the few clean punches he landed in some of the rounds, but Terry has been on the downslide for a while, sadly.

It would be nice to find someone who isnt a bum and throws more than 30 punches a damn round...

What about Travis Walker? His one loss was the worst early stoppage I've ever seen. Joey Abell's one loss was a (home town) early stoppage as well.

I like Eddie Chambers, Abell and Walker but the other young American heavyweights don't impress me much.

        Too bad for terry smith.

I actually like that guy; sad to see him sliding downhill against guys like johnson (who wasnt really that good).

Terry Smith fighting at his heaviest weight seemed to be the problem in the fight. he looked out of shape (ie. his stamina/endurance was shot; along with those sloppy/wide punches).

He looed 45 or better in there.

It wasnt that johnson was so good; it was that smith was so bad.

Smith had all the chances to win had he not been worn out. johnson didnt fight the right fight (he allowed smith in WAY too often) and had terry not been out of shape i think he would have won that fight; he definately has the ability to beat a guy like johnson that was basically showing off not because he's that good (although he'd like to think so) but because terry was shot.

hopefully terry can come back and win a few more fights before riding off into the sunset.

i think terry smith is your average pro boxer; a guy who doesnt make it to the top of the top but keeps fighting on for the love of the sport; he showed a lot of heart and never really got discouraged and what can you say about the fans? wow...they really stood behind smith even though they knew he was losing/going to lose that fight and THAT is true dedication to your fighter...

its one thing for boxers' fans at the elite level to cheer them win or lose and its another to cheer on a local who hasnt really been able to crack beyond the free tv fights.

very nice fans; and great heart by terry smith.

eh, theyre all ok...Only have seen a little of Abell, like what I can find on youtube, and Walker doesnt look half bad either. I have the most faith in Eddie, but that damn guy need to lose some wait and get in shape. he would be so much better...if he could have thrown more punches against Povetkin, I definately could have seen him winning that fight.

hopefully Dimitrenko will be getting better in the future. he needs to work on some stuff, but overall I think hes the most promising prospect overall right now...
haha, look at this guy. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...3636&cat=boxer
the Great White Hope is his nickname. hahahha. I hope he becomes a star.

you took the words right out of my mouth

guy shouldnt be allowed on television, is rather watch a replay of dirrell/stevens than watch this guy again.

one positive out of it is that i know when johnson fights someone good i can bet on the other guy and not have to worry bout losing my money
