Bernard legitimizes anyones resume, well except for Clinton Mitchell i guess ha. ya those other names dont mean much, but Hopkins on your resume is about all you need. It would be a big win for Joe.
Bernard Hopkins
Chris Eubank
Mikkel Kessler
Jeff Lacy
Robin Reid
A very nice resume, especially when you remember that Cal's career as champ began 10 years ago. Reid doesn't look like much now, but back then it was a great win. His star's faded is all.
Maybe not as good as Hopkins's:
Winky
Tarver
Trinidad
De La Hoya
Tito
But it all depends on how you rate the Kessler, Lacy and Eubank wins, and how much credit you wanna give Hopkins for beating Tarver and, as a now LHW (whose first fight was at LHW) for beating some smaller guys. Winky and DLH in particular were smaller.
Me, I think I give Joe most credit for Eubank. He was so green, and Eubank was such a huge step up in class (I mean arguable ATG!). Eubank was getting on a bit, but he was far from shot.
Probably Hopkins still shades it on names, but Joe is just the age now Hopkins was when he made it big. One or two more decent fights and it looks even better.

His resume isn't bad, but the racist ppl will dispute it even though boxers were clearly ducking Calzaghe. The guy has ridiculously fast hands, people don't seem to understand that Hopkins has never done great against anyone with fast hands like Calzaghe. Roy Jones anyone? Plus, add the fact that calzaghe can keep landing punches and still not get tired, he has fast hands and one of the best workrates in this sport.
Calzaghe has also got a lot of other solid wins (Sheika,Woodhall,Brewer,Mitchell,Bika etc).
Agree 100%. IMO his resume is just as good as anybody could expect it to be. All champs mostly defend against fighters not as good as themselves. Only thing lacking is names that appeal to current day US boxing fans.
I've argued elsewhere that these 'names' Bernard has are nowhere near as good as they're made out to be, but I still say the latter part of Bernard's career just gives him the edge.

Eubank would have beaten any orthodox fighter if not for the Watson tragedy. But he never got to grips with a southpaw stance... Dan Schommer beat him by about five rounds or more, and Stretch, Storey's and Calzaghe's stances alone made him look awful.
