There are people who deeply believe white boxers are inferior to black boxers, so they simply cannot believe a white boxer is as good as Calzaghe really is.
They say Eubank was old at 31 (when Joe beat him), then they say Calzaghe is young at 36. If he ever loses, they'll say he never was any good. They said Lacy was the best super middleweight before he fought Joe, but after Joe won every round on all the scorecards, they said Lacy never was no good to begin with.
Boxing ability has nothing to do with race, and Joe has proven himself over and over again. But no matter who he defeats, some people will never believe he's an elite fighter because his skin is the wrong color.
Its the opposition that he's faced and him staying in the UK forever and him thinking he's an all-time great off of guys most ppl don't know threw out the U.S.
He talks alot of **** as if he's beaten like 5 legends. I don't dislike the guy but some of that **** isn't warranted.
Calzaghe is not even hated, the people who don't like him are Americans who are mostly Hopkins fans and have probably never seen Joe fight before.
His personality might come across as little arrogant for some people especially when he keeps talking about the names he beat. Most Americans are not familiar with those names.
Calzaghe was not ducked unless you think that Americans should have gone to the UK to fight him.
