i dont know why Calzaghe took this fight in the first place. why didnt he fight the like of Pavliks or even Taylor if he was going up a division. Calzaghe has a lot to prove IMO and this would prove jack. he probably has 1 more fight left in him and why this? if he beats Bernard, it would be said he beat a old Bernard and thats it. Bernard on the other hand has not much to lose but by winning this, it would do a lot for his legacy or at least he would claim that it did, Now when Hopkins wins people will know Calzaghe was a joke.

I've noticed a lot of this creeping in from Hopkins fans in the last couple of days. All of a sudden its "well Hopkins is old anyway"

Fair enough. I agree that there is plenty riding on this fight for Calzaghe, but not because of B-Hops age. He's old, but he's still good.

Bernard had a chance to do this in 2002 and ran away. Age is no excuse now, seeing as medical experts say he has the body of a 28 year old. Or did Bernard pay all those dollars to Shilstone to be lied to? If he's too old, it's Bernard's own fault for not fighting Joe sooner. Joe will get massive credit from this fight if he wins, and lastly, it's down to HOW he loses, if he loses at all. Split, controversial decision? Robbery? If that happens, I will have no less respect for Joe Calzaghe.Comment

xfiles, I do not like to be drawn into this kind of thing, but I am unsurprised that you would not consider a fair and objective assessment of the Hopkins, Calzaghe fight, I have yet to see you make an intelligent post on this site.
If you think Hopkins is going to win, then fair enough, he might, this is boxing and I respect your opinion. I do not respect the childish way you run down Calzaghe at every opportunity, and the fact that your argument is: B-Hop Wins B-Cos.
It will be a pleasure to relieve you of your points tomorrow, just make sure you pay up before you leave for your lifetime ban.
