Renown fitness guru Mackie Shilstone, who along with trainers Freddie Roach and Naazim Richardson, is preparing Bernard Hopkins for Saturday's clash with Joe Calzaghe, says the always-in-shape Hopkins doesn't have the body of a 43-year-old. "Because he is 43 years in age, that does not necessarily equate to a performance age," says Shilstone. His age is much younger from the standpoint of performance....probably in the neighborhood of 27 to 28 years old."

Roy is definitely proof of that. With Hopkins' iron chin and Calzaghe's bad hands and wrists, he won't need his refexes as much though.
People on here laugh at Hopkins because of his age, but I wonder how many of those people really think they would last a minute in the ring with 52 year old Billy Blanks.Last edited by Jim Jeffries; 04-17-2008, 02:17 PM.Comment

To be fair I think that is deceptive. What does being in the physical condition of a 27 year old mean exactly? Are we talking about the average 27 year old man or an elite athlete at 27? Are we talking about Bernard Hopkins at 27?Comment
