Let's have Cotto beat Margarito first.

And I'm not quite so sure he's going to.

          No way.

As much as i like to see cotto do well (because i think he's a good guy and deserves some success) there is NO arguement to make him p4p champion of the world.

NO ARGUEMENT that is remotely reasonable.

Best arguement you can make for him on the p4p list is 4th (i currently have him 5th).

You cannot put him above calzaghe; pacquiao or mayweather.

          Mayweather's Notable Wins:
          Ricky Hatton
Oscar De La Hoya (arguably the greatest of his era; or ONE OF the greatest of his era at the least)
          Baldomir (Granite Chin)
Judah (judah even gave him a few problems early on.)
          Gatti (sheer dominace over gatti)
          castillo (twice)
corrales (33-0 i believe at that time)

          Manny Pacquiao's Notable Wins:
          Marquez (most recently)
          Barerra (mexican hall of famer
          Morales
          dominates Larios
          Dominates Solis

          Calzaghe's Notable Wins:
          Kessler
          Peter Manfredo Jr.
          Bika
          Lacy
          Eubank (by UD at that)

          Cotto's Notable Wins:
          Torres
          Quintana
          Malignaggi
          Judah
          Mosley

Now some MAY be able to make a somewhat convincing arguement to bump him in third above calzaghe (especially if calzaghe loses this weekend) but you cant put him ahead of pacquiao or mayweather.

          you just cant.

Majority of conversations in boxing are subjective to opinion (ie. "would a prime so-and-so beat a prime so-and-so" or "who wins the upcoming fight" or "what strategy should this fighter use to be this guy" etc.) but this is not one of them.

You sound like a cotto fan to tell you the truth which isnt a bad thing but you cant say things like this that arent really up for arguement...

you want to argue anything about cotto and p4p ranks argue to put him in 4th or 3rd...but dont try to argue him ahead of pacquiao and mayweather; thats crazy.

Cotto's in the back half of the top 10 right now and will definitely move up if he beats Tony. He could, but I don't think he will.

Wow, this is the first time someone has actually admitted being wrong after a reasonable argument convinced them. Incridible but true. I agree, Im Puertorican and Cotto is the man, but he is not top P4P yet. He might very well be next year.

he's not p4p the best fighter in boxing, floyd is and will be for some time, but i do agree he's up there, but he will not beat floyd so it doesn't matter. anyway, i'd put him at number 4 p4p behind joe c, manny, and floyd(who is number 1, no questions asked). can he be the best one day? no doubt about it. he does have what it takes, just not while floyd is here, because he will not beat floyd, and that's that.

Can you imagine a 147 version of Israel Vazquez vs. Miguel Cotto?

Or a 147 version of Kelly Pavlik vs. Miguel Cotto?
