music and boxing related? can help a boxer?

Is music sorta related to boxing ? e.g giving a boxer rhythm? i ask this because someone said that joe calzaghe's fighting style is like jazz and enzo his trainer was a jazz musician and never boxed or taught it in his life intill he trained calzaghe.

i think they say joes fighting style is like jazz is cos he is very unpredictable...and also because his style is kinda akward, so is like he is improvising on the ring =P
and that his dad was a jazz musician maybe helped to say that his style is like jazz, but i think its just a coincidence that joes style is like that

Interesting topic, sterling. Having been a musician myself since the late 70's, I often think about (and have noticed) fighters who fight in rhythm, how someone who knows rhythm well may be able to time the opponent better than someone who doesn't, upset their rhythm with odd timing, and how I would do it if I was a boxer. I'd like to mix punch combinations with drum rudiments. Triple para-diddle to the face!

I love the comment about Joe's style being JAZZ. I can see why, and I'm a bit of a jazz fan too, maybe that's why Joe's style appeals to me.

I have never heard Enzo play, but I can't imagine him being that good. I'll be happy to coach him, if he would like to take lessons.

Hey man, Chambers is one of my heroes! I think if Dennis Chambers and Virgil Donati were boxers that would be a HELL of a fight. Donati would come out on top, though! The guy is unreal.

Playing in the pocket -- good one!

My latest track is here, btw: http://www.zshare.net/audio/5255626f1ddcb9/

If you ever get chance to listen, please do. It's done at home, just an instrumental. Warning: it's not jazz!
