    WBO Orders Casamayor-Campbell

WBO interim champion Joel Casamayor's March 22 bout against Michael Katsidis was sanctioned for the interim title with the condition that the winner must fight a mandatory defense with WBO/WBA/IBF lightweight champion Nate Campbell on or before July 6. On March 28, the WBO World Championship Committee requested that Casamayor confirm to the WBO his intention to fulfill his mandatory cbligation with Campbell. Shortly thereafter, his representatives confirmed Casamayor's intention to fulfill his obligations and his request to start negotiations immediately. The Casamayor and Campbell camps have been given 15 days to negotiate an agreement and either may request a purse bid at any time. If an accord is not reached within the time frame, a purse bid will be ordered in the following ten days.

If Casamayor declines the fight he can just vacate. My understanding is that The IBO belt is vacant and they can sanction the Diaz-Casamayor fight if that happens so it would be for the IBO and Ring Belt

Not sure who to pick here. Obviously Casa already aced Campbell once prior, but Campbell looks amazing lately and even Casamayor says Campbell was his toughest fight to date.

I gotta go Casamayor on gut instinct. Something tells me he'll find a way to beat Nate again.

I am pretty sure this fight isnt going to happen unless the wbo belt means a lot to Casamayor. My understanding is that they are interested in a date September 13 vs Juan Diaz

I'd like to see this fight happen, it only makes sense. I think Campbell takes this fight. His performance against Diaz was strong and Casamayor's against Katsidis was way shaky and had Katsidis not got over anxious we'd discussing a different matchup right now.

WBO has no use for two old men running around like moderately marketable champs..

Thats the problem I'm seeing with boxing lately. Regardless of whether or not that statement holds some truth, they still are technically the top dogs at lightweight and therefore should fight eachother. This way we eliminate the weakest link and then the young bucks of the division clean out the vets. If they can't, then maybe they do have some business running around that division.
