How far is Atlantic City from New York City?

Turns out I'll be in NYC the weekend of that fight.

What would be the best way to get from Manhattan to Atlantic City? I'm assuming I would need to rent a car?
Is there a shuttle bus or train that comes back goes to Atlantic City during the day and then comes back to NYC late at night?

My problem is I'll be in the city over the weeked staying at a hotel, I won't have the option of staying one night in AC as well, why waste the money?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Definetly gonna need a car its about a 3 hour trip. They will have a train service going but that doesnt start until later this year i believe.

The drive is EXTREMELY easy though.
