Its up there with Nady awful bias in the Ruiz v Jones fight and just behind the Ottke v Reid guy, it was a dreadful piece of officiating by a guy with 100+ fights under his belt it was boarderline sackable.

But give him the benefit of the doubt he may just have had a turd.

prior to that fight i thought he was average a bit to busy and if you remember to early mid 90s every time he was reffing a Sweet pea bout he was always on Pernells case.

Cortez did a terrible job in that fight - he wouldn't let Ricky fight on on the inside.

Hatton was at a 26" to 20" arm length disadvantage, so he didn't have a chance unless he fought in close.

Ricky probably wouldn't have won anyway, though...

Hatton didnt try to fight on the inside wtf are you talking about , his own dam corner said Ricky you are smothering yourself , you know why , because if Ricky had of given himself some room Floyd bashes him , so Hatton did all he could do , push and wrestle ,,, have any of you counted the breaks in every round ,, if you did you would realize that the rounds with the least breaks were the rounds that Hatton got hammered in , Cortez didnt warmup in 4 , the fighters had let their steam out and were settled ,,,,, to the guy that compared Hatton Castillo to Hatton Floyd , what a joke , Castillo is like an old man as slow as mud whats there to ref in that fight , with Floyd Hatton you got super hyped super strong atheletes , it was always going to be messy and bustleing early in this fight , for **** sake blind Freddy could see that ,,,, you guys amaze me at times with your reasoning its like you have tunnel vision and see nothing but your own agenda and bias .

Everytime someone holds someones arms down, or has someones head under there arm, the ref has to break it up. Mayweather would hit then end up under hattons arm. Or he would hold so the ref would stop the action. This is exactly wat cortez was doing if you look closely. I would also say that after about round 3 or 4 cortez began to loosen up. I think if anything he laid down the law in the beginning rounds to show both fighters that he isnt taking anything from either of them. What do u guys think given the points i just made?
He did a horrible job and ruined what could have been a great fight. Just accept it

Good point. Cortez has done some ****ty work before but it's still an excuse Hatton's using. And besides, I remember Hatton gettin some help from an incompetent ref in his win over Tszyu. Same story, different fighter. Hatton woulda won anyway but the ref coulda done a better job.
