I'm not fighting this guy because he is way out of his prime I.E Oscar de la hoya vs Julio Cesar Chavez SR? I think I would have way more respect all these young cats are beating up on SR citizens and getting credit for it.

the majority of the time fighting an old guy with a known name is the only way to get your name known as well.

who would hatton be if he didn't beat kostya? pacquiao if he didn't beat morales or barrera? even ali had old patterson and even older moore on his resume.

Chavez only had 1 loss on his resume at that point, to Frankie Randall, which was avenged in a rematch.

And the way Oscar gave him his second loss was kind of convincing, but it was kind of strange too. He did cut him in the first 30 seconds, really badly.

Usually elites only fight old guys if they are still considered in the game. Bernard Hopkins is clearly old, but has never had his true defeat beyond a point of doubt, and he is the LHW champion. Why would people bypass him? No one has proven that his age has caught up with him... yet.

Notice how no one is really lining up to fight Roy Jones Jr.? That's because he has had that defeat that comes with age. That usually disqualifies a fighter from getting big fights.
