  • The Hopkins-Calzaghe Winner Should Be The New P4P King!

No disrespect to Floyd, I'm actually a big fan of his but with all due respect to them guys at Ring Magazine who do the OFFICIAL p4p list, Floyd's rematch with an ageing DLH should disqualify him as the sports top dog! I feel like Calz and B-Hop is puttin it on the line and the winner should be able to call him self the sports p4p king after so many sucessfull consecutive title defenses and ruling their respected weight classes for decades! Joe has NEVER been defeated and many can make a case for Roy Jones Jr. being the ONLY man to defeat B-Hop, a unpolished B-Hop may we not forget!
So with that said, I feel as though one of these future Hall of Famers should be able to add that official p4p top ranking to their list of career acheivements! Like I said, Floyd is my man, but he isn't carrying that title like the BEST should! The BEST fight the BEST so there's no confusion in the boxing world 'bout whose the BEST! Floyd's reluctance to fight the Cotto's and Tony's has created a doubt 'bout whose really the BEST! Calz and B-Hop will fight in the most important fight of the year in my opinion! 2 reignin Ring Magazine Champs tryin to add to their legacy instead of trying to protect it like Roy was doing before Tarver smoked him and like Floyd is doing right before our eyes! Again I love the kid, in fact I'll be takin all bets come September he destroys DLH! I also beleives he's the best BOXER on the planet, but like DMX says "If ya heart was as big as ya mouth you'd be REAL, but itz NOT!" So I hope all yall agree! The Calz-B-Hop winner should be the new top dog!

You can agree or disagree thatz whatz the board is for! Tell me what yall think! Should Floyd be dethroned without takin a L?

I agree, as you say they are putting themself in a genuine p4p battle with lots at stake. That's what a p4p king does.

What was Floyd's last risky fight? there is plentty around for him but does he take them?

I think the crown of p4p #1 has changed in meaning recently, or at least is seen differently by different groups of fans.

IMO it used to be given to whoever was the most skilled active boxer, based on whether or not they could be beaten by anyone else in those make believe, hypothetical, no-weight fights. For me Floyd holds this crown, active or not. I'd make Calzaghe #2 in this regard.

In the Mayweather era it seems to have become more of an "active" title, based more than ever before on what a fighter is actually doing right now, as opposed to what he could do. On this basis I'd say Pacquaio takes #1, because he is beating major names and has been doing so for a while, then I'd have the winner of Calzaghe/ Hopkins, then probably Cotto, then probably Floyd. I think his wins over Hatton and De La Hoya are good enough to merit it.

I think casual fans take the first view, and there are more of them, whereas hardcore boxing fans take the second.

      Agree/ Disagree?

I agree! But it seems that the casual fans are getting more Hardcore! These Floyd Mayweather Jr's wont be able to bull**** the public much longer!

I think both guys could drop this weekend (on my list at least).

If Hopkins looks like he did against Wright, but Joe wins only by a narrow margin, I don't see how I could continue to rate either ahead of the guys who are doing great work right now (Pacquiao, Cotto, etc.)

Roy Jones was never dethroned until he lost to Tarver and he fought complete BUMS for YEARS. No way is Mayweather ever being dethroned without actually losing a fight or retiring.

HE is on my list, p4p is in the eye of the beholder. There is already questions about his status.
