    thoughts on emmanuel steward....

    i mean he is a legend as a trainer;
    i wouldn't blame him for what's happening with some of his champion under his belt,

    i mean andy lee was smashed by a bum....

    jermaine taylor got clocked by pavlik
    and kermit cintron got blowned by margarito,
    his last hope is wald and will soon get KO'ed by samuel peter,

    i wouldn't blame stuard if his pupils cannot execute his plans and get caught

    Steward is all text book smarts, and more than that he's 'old School. The man knows his stuff, how to transform a heavy hitter into a defensive fighter. The thing that seems to happen is that his methods are like a BROKEN CLOCK. By that I mean, everything that was practice and trained and went over and over again in the gym...somehow goes out the window because most fighters rely on instinct instead of "TEXT BOOK" fundamentals. The part on "BROKEN CLOCK" is.... What worked with the heavy weights, does not always works for the lighter weight classes. Buddy McGirt is the same example. The thing with Buddy McGirt is...."A Mechanic is only as good as his tools"!!

      I think he should stick to trainin'. I get tired of hearing "I knew this was gonna happen tonight." After every fight. Oh and the classic, "I thought he was gonna lose or be at his best" Oh yeah? No ****.

        Never really had much of opinion until he kept telling Cintron to go forward against Margarito. That to me seemed like the worst possible game plan for Cintron against a guy who is a much, much better inside fighter then Cintron is. Not until the very last round, when Cintron was already hurt and took a **** load of punishment did Manny tell him "you gotta box this round." Well no ****in ****, that should have been the game plan since round 1. What, you honestly thought Cintron could beat Margarito on the inside in a slugfest?? Pretty idiotic, imo.

        Taylor I gave him a pass because Taylor simply didn't do what Manny told him to do.

        andy lee, he's a young prospect, so who knows with that.

        But Cintron was clearly bad coaching.

          I think most of his fighters are undertrained on the inside, and it's starting to really become noticable.

              Going forward doesn't necesarily mean trading on the inside. Manny's always been great at making big tall guys use their physical strength (Lewis, Hearns) by ramming that jab forward and following up. I see what you're saying Cintron was better moving, but I think going forward with the jab and trying to **** Margarito out was a solid plan. Cintron has a lot of power. He just didn't have the confidence here, Marg has his number, you can't always blame the trainer because a fighter can't execute the gameplan.

                  Maybe Manny should just focus on just a couple fighters, instead of spreading himself thin.
