Do you really need to be faster than floyd to beat him?

    I dont think so.

so i made this thread to get the opinions of boxingscene members.

I was in a thread (dont remember which) but someone said, "oscar can't be floyd because floyd has the faster feet and faster hands".

Note: this thread has NOTHING to do with oscar or their upcoming fight.

I just want to know if people really think the biggest key to beating mayweather is speed in your hands and feet.

    I say no.

    what do you think?

I think you need to be smarter than Floyd to beat him which is not out of the question.

      **** no...

A lot of people thought Castillo beat him.

Does anyone in the world think Castillo had a speed advantage over Mayweather?

          i agree...smarter (or just as smart) yes...faster...no.

there is such a thing called counterpunching and timing your opponent which doesnt take speed. it takes timing and smarts.

some fans seem to think thats not a factor.

A puncher with a decent jab (a bit of rarity) should give him plenty of problems.

exactly...and oscar was only 1 round away from a draw and 2 away from a win and he sure isnt even close to being as fast as floyd.

i agree... with majority...you have to be smart...not fast...or powerful...

it comes down to brains when you fight a guy like floyd.

not reach advantages...or height...or even speed.

A possible way to defeat a slickster like pbf is to rough him up, pummel him on the inside, tie him up, disrupt his rythm and use all the dirty **** the ref. allows. I also believe a strong emphasis should be put on some heavy body-work.

Of course it's easier said than done but every fighter is beatable. The problem with undefeated fighters is that you dont know the recipe.... yet.

It's a pity most fighters have the brains of a weevil, then.
