So I go into the pool supply store to by some chemicals and stuff for some of my customers today and started talking to some guys and boxing came up. Now let me tell you these guys don't know **** from peanut butter when it comes to boxing.
Well I start talking to this guy named Jaime about his weekend. He said he chilled and watched the Cotto fight this weekend. He told me "That Cotto guy kicked the other guy's ass bad. They should have stopped it earlier." I told him "I know, but what did you think of the fight before, you know, Margarito and Cintron?" HE said "Oh I didn't watch it, I didn't know either one of those guys, so i fast forwarded through it". I responded back "WHAT!!!! It was better than the Cotto fight. More action and evenly matched. You got to watch it on replay!!" HE said " naw, I dont want to watch it, but you know what fight they need to make? That Mayweather guy versus this Cotto guy. Now that would be good. I'll pay for that one." Other guys that didnt know **** either were like, "hell yeah that's what i wanna see."
So I was thinking, this what Mayweather was waiting for. For the fight to get big and the general public who are not boxing fans, get them willing to buy the fight. Make Cotto a bigger star. but I don't know. If Floyd doesn't fight the winner of Margs vs Cotto, I'll be pissed. I dont care if he fights Hatton again, OK make your money, BUT DO IT AFTER COTTO / MARGS. But it just tripped me out that these guys wanted the fight to happen. I know these aren't the only non boxing fan guys that want to it, because there is a buzz that's getting created. Maybe, just maybe if it builds up more over the next 6 months, it will be BIGGER than the ODLH fight.
