Why are all the big fights in Vegas??

    I always wondered that.

All the big fights for both boxing and UFC tend to happen in Vegas but why is Mandalay Bay so popular when it only seats under 12,000??

I figure MSG would be kingpin cuz it seats over 20,000 and New York is a big town but usually only Puerto Ricans and Heavyweights fight there.

I figure since Vegas has high rollers that promotors would think people would be inclined to spend extra money but if thats true what about the Staples Center in LA?

    What do you guys think

The casinos put up big money for the fights. They'll even take a loss on the fight sometimes just to generate the ******** and publicity that weekend. MSG and Staples can't compete with that.

Because the casinos put the most money up to buy the venue rights. Boxing is a gambler's sport and it attracts lots of traffic.

These big time casinos can generate a lot more money then these popular arenas.

And MSG and Staples Center already have hockey teams and basketball teams playing in the arean daily, sometimes its just not worth risking competeing with a VEGAS casino bid

I think its a disservice to fans tho in my opinion. I think Vegas isnt as accessible as say MSG or Staples Center or even Boardwalk Hall, I mean i've seen more posters talk about their time visiting fights in NJ/NY then in Vegas

Casino's put up a lot of money just to get people in town, not including all the people that come here from around the world just because it's "SIN CITY". This is party town, If you've ever been to Vegas on a fight night you would understand.

Oh man no doubt I know Vegas is a party town but its just I dont like all the huge fights being there. I also feel bad for you Vegas natives cuz if say a superfight happens even tho you guys live there all the celebritys suck up the tix, or even worst, Mandalay hikes up the price to crazy levels

I got no beef with Vegas just venting a bit

I felt sorry for the fans (myself) who couldn't get tickets to the Mayweather-Hatton fight in Vegas, because Golden Snaggle Tooth only put out a small amount of tickets to the public.

"It sold out in half an hour!!!"

Yeah, because you put a small amount to the public and a ****load to agents. British people already reserving plane tickets to come across the Atlantic, with the Pound destroying the $$$, they're not gonna give a **** about paying extra for tickets since they're already traveling across the globe anyway.

Yeah the Mandalay Bay is got to be the worst! I do think that fights in Vegas are bad for boxing. When you have bets being made in the same town where the fight is there tends to be a conflict of interest. IMO
