THIS is why they made COTTO-GOMEZ

A lot of people were questioning why this fight was made. They said it was pointless and wouldnt do anything.

Well look at the forum right now. Everyone is now bursting at the seems about a the Margarito-Cotto fight.

It was basically like an expensive and awsome advertisement for the fight.

And it worked perfectly. Both guys won by exciting KO.

People will be talking about this fight for weeks before it starts to die down, and then it'll pick right back up again at the start of July which isnt to far from now.

MSG will be sold out for this fight for sure, where as before it probably would have struggled to sell all 21,000 seats

Good point. Think of how much better it'll sell now than if they would've just fought last night. They assumed that Margarito and Cotto would win impressively and in an exciting fashion, and they did, and now look. The boxing world's mouth is watering at this match-up.

this has already been made apparent numerous times. the only people asking why Gomez gets a shot at Cotto are Floyd fans who understand the reasoning but are trying to make it seem that Cotto was taking an easy fight without being criticized for it.

I agree, they put in Gomez(who isn't close to being in the same league as Cotto) in there so Cotto can dominate him and ko him and look great

Cotto-Margarito will sell out even if it is a ten round fight, having two champions unify their belts makes more business sense PPV wise.

Everyone thought Cotto/Margarito was a good fight before this... Cotto/Gomez was a worthless fight and didn't prove anything.

I would have to agree. I was excited about a Margarito/Cotto match before, but after last night im even more excited. Cotto IMO is a lot better than Marge, but Marge has that chin and great determination. Both guys can break down their opponents with the best of them and It will be interesting to see if Cotto can break Margarito or vice versa.
