The Situation as I see it...




It's like when THIS,you got Floyd who has risen to the status of running the whole sport of boxing. He has been knocking out and beating all the previous fighters to challenge him. And Now he runs the sport. He is now been sitting fat, and making WAY TOO MUCH money, and really talking **** to anybody who would listen. He has set his aura of invincibilitySo High that People now want to see him beat at all cost.

So they search for the perfect Opponent to beat him by judging from the previous opponents he has beaten.

1. Cant be the same size. The fighter must be Bigger (Hatton)
2. Cant be to 3 years older because that's to old. (Oscar)
3. Cant be to slow (Baldomir)
4. Cant be to fast (Judah)
5. Cant have a Slow Work Rate. Cant Let Floyd Dictate Pace (Corralles)
6. Cant have a weak chin ( Ndou)
7. Cant be One Dimensional slugger (Gatti)
8. Cant Over pressure , because Floyd would counter punch all day( Castillo)
9. Cant lack Power ( Chavez)
10. Cant let Floyd stay in the middle of the ring..! (Mitchell)

Finally they come to the conclusion the fighter has
To be a big fighter, around the same age or younger, a power puncher, not to slow, but not to fast, has a high work rate, a strong chin, multi dimensional, balance pressure, and pressure Floyd to the Ropes.. And That will be the fighter that Beats Floyd.

So they look around and the closes thing they got is Cotto... He almost fix all the requirements, and he is undefeated...! HE OURS MAN....

So They call Floyd out for Cotto, everyday, every night, all the time...
But there is one problem... Cotto doesn't seem interested to challenge Floyd... He wont initiate the conflict, He is quite to the idea of Calling Floyd out for the people... and people are saying that he doesn't has to call out Floyd. we the fans will do it for him...

There is the problem....

The Fans cant Fight For Cotto, only Cotto can fight for Cotto...
Cotto reluctance to fulfill the people the demands and become the anti Floyd is not being answered...

Simply because Cotto will be the one who has to fight Floyd, Not the Fans...
Cotto will Have to be the one dealing with Floyd's Harassment.
Cotto is the one who will have to deal with Floyd's Masterful Defense.
Cotto is the one who will have to deal with Floyd's Unmatch Speed.
Cotto is the one who will have to deal with Floyd's Sneaky Power.

But if the fans called Floyd out for him and he loses..., Some of the burden will go on his fans for putting him in that Position...and demanding Cotto Fight Floyd...even though Cotto has never called him out..

That's why Cotto never calls anybody out because he doesn't want to accept responsibility if he loses...He wants to have the excuse that I fought who they put in front on me, and I lost...!!
So it's Bob Arums can take responsibility to some degree...

Excellent post. I think your analysis is exactly right. I saw another post today pointing out that if Floyd and Cotto do fight, and if Floyd wins, then and only then will he gain respect from his detractors, and I think that will turn out to be true. Cotto has taken on an almost talismanic role as "the man who can and will beat Floyd" and I think that when/ if Floyd beats him (which I fully expect) it will be hard for anybody to do anything other than acclaim Floyd as the best boxer in the world. At least that what should happen....

To those people who refuse to read this thread, come on. OK, Horus posts about Floyd a lot but he always backs it up with intelligent, thoughtful reasoning. If you think its too long, well...any well constructed argument is always going to be longer than a few lines of type. This is a boxing forum and we do come here to read arguments and opinions about boxing don't we?
