    Lampley's boxing history goof

Anyone catch Jim screwing up on a story about Mike Tyson-Carl "The Truth" Williams? He said Williams went down three times on dubious knockdowns. Well I remember watching that fight live. Williams only went down once from a hard left hook in the first round. He easily beat the count, but the incompetent ref stopped the fight without even giving Williams a chance to fight back. The ref's name? The same guy who was in the ring when he told the story, Randy Neumann. Way to go Lamps!

I think he mixed up Williams and Stewart. Tyson-Stewart was the last fight Tyson had as an exclusive HBO guy.

Lampley is usually good at remembering facts and dates.

That was my guess, although it was on Showtime PPV. Thread Stealer could be right too.
