nah but i suspect both will be a little low because the fans were split over which to watch. Two very popular cards among boxing fans.

Casual fans probably went with the Cotto card so it probably did better. AND its HBO so...

If it had been going on for 50 years then Ali-Frazier would have been PPV and would have raked in some SERIOUS cash.

It think its been about 30 years?

Well they keep counting, they have to do it by counting each individual buy. So the early numbers you read are estimates based on how the counting is going.

The final numbers are official, press released, cannot be lied about numbers. 525 is official.

And the #'s arent the scam, he was saying the fact that we have to pay is a scam

Wasn't Ali-Frazier on closed circuit tv?

THE FIGHT was witnessed by 20,455 at the Garden and it has been estimated that 300 million more watched it across the world on closed-circuit television. The live gate generated $1.3 million.

I don't think it was closed-circuit around the world but I'm sure it was here in the states.

Yes im sure the promoter made money off the the Television rights but I don't think people around the world were paying money like here in the states.

They still don't pay around the world. The Pinoys tell me they see all the Pac fights for free.

The first actual PPV event was Leonard-Hearns in 1981.

We have our sopcasts and streams so it's not like we are that affected except when those things skip......argh

Yes it was, which is EXACTLY the same as PPV except you can't watch it at home. The first PPV (closed circuit) fight was Sonny Liston fighting some stiff in the 1950's.

Yeah, you had to go to some weird auditoriums with a buncha drunks and watch a huge screen with ****ty resolution.
I am far too young to actually have went, LOL....

But I know you had to pay.
