Cotto v. Margarito and surrounding scenarios

Cotto V. Margarito will without a doubt (before we even see one round of the fight) will be a strong contender for fight of the year.

When you have a guy who punches more than 1200+ times in 12 rounds vs a guy like Cotto who has really developed into the complete package (ie. GREAT body puncher, pretty good boxer, developing better defense, good inside fighter; etc.) you are guaranteed fireworks; so its only fitting the fight would happen in july.

Its going to be a tough fight for both. Margarito has a chin of steel and doesnt believe in a backwards step. he's an excellent inside fighter (and would be a bit better if he would work his way inside behind a jab...unlike lastnight).

Cotto has shown he can do it all; box; brawl; and as of last night; become puerto rico's "pretty boy" (with all that dancing and swagger he showcased).

It's a pickem fight. plain and simple.

in my opinion cotto's best chance is to pick up where he left of last night; boxing...stick and move...and finish with the left hook to the body...

he doesnt want to get in a head hunting war with margarito. that favors margarito...cotto's chin isnt as strong as tony's and margarito isnt as good on the outside as cotto...so for cotto you want to box and go to the body.

for tony...he wants to get inside and punch 100+ times a round to steal rounds away and punish cotto.

thats the story of the fight in my opinion...margarito shown me a tendancy last night to just walk inside (with a jab) and cintron tagged him up pretty good when he was trying to come in...cotto should go that route and let margarito come to him...tag him a couple times; back up and let margartio come in again and do the same.

After this it looks more than obvious that the winner fights floyd. as far as mayweather goes im not sure who he should be rooting for (to get an easier fight) because i believe no matter who wins its going to be a close tough fight...

margarito has a tough chin and punches so 1200 times a fight; thats hard to deal with for floyd i think...

and cotto has developed into the complete package and is currently one of the best body punchers in the sport.

no easy victory for mayweather either way.

its going to be a great 2008.

Both guys wanna fight inside to work the body and set up short punches, Cotto's hook and Tony's uppercut. Neither guy can win easily, so it should be classic.

if this fight is fought in the inside i dont see cotto going 12 rds......so many scenarios how this fight could play out......cotto's jab has gotten alot better that will be key to keeping tony off of him......the body work is going to be key.....if cotto can get it going he can slow him down....damn i can not wait for this one........

its true but i think cotto should only get inside in spots...

stick and move on the outside (he's the superior boxer) and when margarito attempts to come in; tag him with a quick combo (finish to the body) and get back outside...

if he does that margarito will have a tough time since cotto will be winning on the outside and when tony DOES get in he will get hit to the body and when he looks to return fire cotto will be back out of range...it will really frustrate him i believe.

and tony simply shouldnt allow cotto to breathe.

the hook and uppercut will DEFINATELY be the story of the fight.

        classic it will be.

im telling you its going to be a great year.

          me either...

all of the sudden its the new biggest fight among boxing fans.

as i said; cotto's jab and hook ARE going to be the story for him...

jab outside...tag margarito to the body when he comes in...and get back out and use the jab...thats (i believe) how he should fight.

tony wants to smother cotto and work uppercuts and rights to the chin.

it COULD work out other ways but this seems like the most logical stategy for each fighte.r
