before that was urkal (nothing to write home about)

but the two before that were quintana and malignaggi.

alfonso gomez was a tuneup for the winner of cintron/margarito.

with as many quality opponents he's fought in his most recent fights he deserves a tuneup fight...especially since he'll be fighting margarito next...i think a tuneup isnt out of line.

dont act like cotto v. gomez was a big ppv card that cost $50.

everyone knew it was a tuneup fight for the winner of cintron/margarito so dont act like cotto chose to duck anyone.

Cotto always says two things about opponents; (A) "im ready for everyone" and (B) "my promoter's make the fights and i do my job."

he never said he didnt want to fight someone.

he even took a lesser payday to fight mosley.

cotto is willing/able/ready to do what he can to make the big fights happen (even if that involves taking a cut in pay).

so dont discredit cotto for a tuneup fight...de la hoya is having a tuneup fight; pavlik is having a tune up fight; hatton is having a tune up fight (to set up a fight with paulie malignaggi).

every fight has a tune up fight...so dont criticize cotto for taking a fight to stay busy. there i NOTHING wrong with that.

look at mayweather...even he takes "stay busy" fights...
Tune up Count- 8 times, WOW, talk about stayin on topic

What do you think he was doing? Contender has a huge audience last time I checked.

The boxer that is a discrace is the clown that keeps ducking Cotto.

Lol...I was hoping someone would post this. Sadly, Cotto fans aren't going to see the hypocrisy in criticizing Floyd while Cotto fights Gomez. They're just going to get pissed off. Even a win over Margarito isn't as impressive as two wins over DLH.

BUT, Mayweather-Cotto needs to happen while both are still in their prime.

lol you're obviously a SUPER fan.

It was basically a stay busy fight.

Why is Floyd fighting De La Hoya again? or even considering getting back in the ring with Ricky Hatton? You should be making a thread on that.

De La Hoya would KAYO all of the welterweights right now and he brings something to the table that Cotto can't, thats MONEY. Hatton is a TRUE warrior and is the best Jr. Welterweight in the world. Guess what, Mayweather isn't a true Welterweight. He's really a Jr. Welterweight so how is that a mismatch? Hatton has been the only fighter to even come CLOSE to making Money sweat.
