I didnt think margarito was going to be THAT much better than Cintron.
Other than being able to make an arguement for the first round i couldnt find a round to give to cintron. margarito was just out hustling him.
AND steward gave the WRONG advice to cintron about how to fight margarito. i was REALLY surprised steward told Cintron to keep coming forward. the inside fight favors margarito (as you could see by the result of the fight). I noticed Cintron was going the best when he fight backing up and pause (and allow margarito to come forward) and punch margarito and margarito is coming forward.
cintron did that at certain points and when he did he would be winning the round...but eventually would give up on the idea and just stand infront of margarito.
margarito could have made the fight easier for himself if he went inside behind the jab...cintron was just tagging margarito when he'd come in because he would just walk right in with no jab; no nothing.
other than that what a fight. margarito has really shown that the williams loss was just a fluke. he looked REAL good in there.
As far as Gomez v. Cotto goes was anyone REALLY that surprised on the outcome?
Cotto won every round without question. Gomez was just getting beat at every turn. whatever gomez wanted to do in the ring cotto would play along and do it better than him.
BUT that is NO crack against Gomez. The heart of gomez is huge. you have to admire him for that if nothing else. it took balls to be willing to just trade with cotto.
however the first knockdown wasnt a knockdown at all...look at the replay; gomez was off balance and actually tripped over cotto's left foot (i believe it was cotto's left foot).
Did anyone notice cotto seemed like he didnt want to finish off gomez; he let him hang around in the fight like he enjoyed it. there were times cotto would have gomez hurt and he would simply take a step back and let him get his balance back and then fight. maybe he was just trying to put in work i guess.
So now we are looking at Cotto v. margarito. wow. thats all you can really say about a fight like this...you have cotto a top 10 p4p fighter against margarito who punches over a 100 times a round on average with a chin of steel.
All the making of fight of the year in my opinion. It's going to be VERY exciting.
Should be great.
