In the 10th round it looked like Johnson was about to knock Dawson down but he had a good chin and stayed up

Your talking about an almost 36 yr old roy jones jr... and a young 25 yr old dawson

Anyone here who THINKS.. the same 25 year old version of Roy Jones Jr, wouldnt toy with the Glen Johnson that fought tonight, doesnt know boxing.

Dawson was fatigued in the 3rd - 4th round... that would NEVER, ever, ever, ever happen with a 25 yr Old Roy.

Glen hit him with the same left jab over, and over, and over.... THAT would of never happened with a 25 yr old Roy...

Glen got Dawson to fight on the inside... THAT.. would of NEVER happened to a 25 yr old Roy

You comparing roy getting KOed at almost 36 and Dawson not getting KOed tonight, is apples and oranges...

This was Dawson's first major test and he passed it. It was the first time that he was in against an experienced fighter such as Johnson and the first time that he had to face adversity. You are also forgetting the fact that Roy didn't step up his competition and faced seasoned vets until he had over 30 fights. Dawson had only 25 fights and is already facing the best fighters that are out there. Dawson takes more chances than peak Jones did. Its just a different level of competition. Give him time, he is young and will learn from this experience. I seriously doubt that after watching the tape of this fight again, he will not brawl or abandon his height and reach advantage again. He will stick to boxing and use his foot speed and movement more.

Styles makes fights and Dawson ******ly fought on the inside from the opening bell, it wasn't what ''Johnson got him to do''. Dawson was trying to knock out Johnson early and he learned that it as not the thing to do. He should have boxed early, then stepped up the later rounds and stopped Johnson from accumulation. Instead if doing that, he tired him self out early by loading up on big punches and wasting energy. He made the fight tougher than it had to be. The Dawson that fought Adamek would have beaten Johnson handily because he boxed. Adamek would have had the same success that Johnson had if that version of Dawson showed up because he didn't use his tools.

            On your 1st part...

Roy not stepping up competition in his first 30 fights?

Bernard Hopkins and James Toney are steps up in competion... BAR... NONE.

And I dont wanna hear about your one excuse of James Toney being weight drained... .that has nothing to do with roy WILLING to step up... Roy didnt know JAMES would be so WEIGHT DRAINED the day he signed the fight... weight drained or not, thats on Toney and NOT roy...

in roys first 30 fights, he faced two undefeated fighters, PLUS bernard hopkins, and won titles in 2 weight classes... Chad doesnt hold a candle to this

on your 2nd part.. i completely agree with you... i know exactly why Chad lost... and im sure hes capable of fixing those problems... but he lacked head movement, and any sense of ADAPTING to something... after someone hits you with the same punch for 8 rounds "Glens left jab"... you should BE ABLE to catch on.... and FIX IT...

these are things roy showed... adapting

with all THAT said.. .i dont care to get into a 12 page debate with you about it... good fight... chad will definitely improve...

and i made CAKE off it

              Give it up slicksouthpaw

Prime Roy Jones Jr. destroys Chad Dawson and Glen Johnson.

Chad Dawson shouldn't ever be mentioned in the same sentence as Prime RJJ.

What Chad really needs to do is learn how to keep his damn hands up. Almost every time he got hit with a hard shot he had his hands down, and then after getting hit he still didn't bring them up. It seemed like he was trying to push Glen off with his elbow instead of defending. But honestly I scored the fight for Chad and don't see how it would be a robbery. Maybe a close arguable decision but not a robbery.

Johnson is a world class fighter imo and his style would give almost every fighter in the division trouble even Calzaghe imo. I think a draw would have been more fair but i do feel for Johnson he has so many defeats that should have been wins for him.
