Floyd Mayweather quit fighting for his legacy.

Keep in mind, I'm not a Floyd hater nor am I a huge fan of his, and I'm not trying to push anyone's buttons. I'm just simply saying, from a completely objective point of view, that he seems no longer concerned about securing his legacy in boxing.

A lot of you can try and justify his fights right now, but it seems apparent as to why he's fighting the fights he is. If you disagree, feel free to bash me because it won't change my opinion.

Floyd is an incredible talent, who I think is the best fighter in the world, but I believe that if he doesn't step up he will lose that status, and I won't have a problem with it at all.

When it's all said and done, I think he will be thought of as a great talent who never truly put his skills to the test. He's lucky enough to be in a division that could be looked back on as one of the all-time great ones, but he fails to do anything about it. It's his fault if he's looked back upon in that way. The division will be great without him.

Say what you want, but deep down we all know who he should be fighting, whether you want to admit it or not. I'm not trying to disrespect him. I'm just simply saying that I do think he has the talent to be the best, and I just want him to prove it.

the funny thing about p4p is that when roy had it he'd lose it with out losing a fight, whether to oscar shane or tito for like a couple of months.

Well, legacy doesn't pay the bills. Ask Joe Louis.
Finding the most lucrative match up does.

I honestly think he doesn't care. And in a way, I agree why should he?

But,I will choose not to watch his next fight if it's with DLH or Hatton after Forbes.

I'd rather watch welterweights that are hungry and want to unify belts.
I am probably in the minority given the numerous Floyd threads.

          true ish..
Could you imagine if Mayweather beat Cotto, Marg and Williams or Cintron?
There would be NO ONE who questioned his opposition and boxing would be back on the mainstream!
Reality of it is though.. he hasn't fought the best since Castillo!
Floyd boys get angry when people criticize Floyd but the boxing community has every right. If he didn't have nothing to criticize there would be no criticizm!
It's his own fault though and I'm comfortable with it now too if he decides to stay how he is... That only leaves Miguel Cotto to come in and do what he didn't and possibly shine brighter then Mayweather in history when people look back at this era.

Legacy does pay the bills.. ask De La Hoya!
Louis ended up broke for serving his country who at the time could give a **** about him.. It wasn't because he fought the best.

DLH ain't rich because he's the best. It's because people like him.
History may treat him kindly, but he made the most money he ever has past prime and fighting and struggling with Sturm, then losing to Hop then Mayweather.

              Floyd doesn't care about legacy.

If Joe Louis doesn't appeal to you, I can give you 10 more fighters that have a great legacy, but it ultimately didn't pay the bills.

DLH is the exception, not the rule.

yes i fully understand pbf does not care about fighting the best anymore or strengthen his legacy we will to look for great competitive fights from younger or hungrier fighters like the juan diaz vs nate campbell matchup

He's obviously done fighting for his legacy. He'll fight for money from now on, taking a fight here and there to legitimize his tag as P4P, but when all is said and done and we look back on his career 20 years from now, we'll be impressed with:
                  G. Hernandez
                  D. Corrales
                  J. Chavez
                  J. L. Castillo (2x)
                  A. Gatti
                  Z. Judah
                  O. De La Hoya (2x)
                  R. Hatton (2x)
                  M. Cotto

                  I'm left pretty damn impressed.

I think it was because Roy's opposition was viewed as relatively week and he was in a week division. If PBF doesn't fight a top welter soon he too will lose it.
