they had marco fight juan in the hope that if juan can win the title from marco it'll set up a big payday with manny. isn't it kinda funny that those two fought each other first when the big money would have been manny first? golden boy wanted to keep the title in their stable's hands. marco and manny will sell with or without a title. juan needed the belt more. not that it was fixed or anything. it just went as golden boy planned.

i think it was close between marco and juan. not as close as the 2nd manny-juan fight but close enough. i think marco could've won without the point deductions. but i'm biased. i think marco , erik and manny are a level above juan manuel. marco and erik a few years back would've beat juan. marquez is just a bad matchup for manny. just like junior and manny was for marco.

i think it's more like 20-80 in manny's favor.

i heard juan only made $1m-1.5m for the last fight. manny's guaranteed was around $5m plus a cut of ppv. i don't even think juan got a cut of the ppv but i could be wrong.

juan is just not a big draw. his style is just not appreciated by non-boxing afficianados. as much as jmm fans try to throw it out there that juan takes less money...... it still is juan's biggest payday to date. he just doesn't have the fanbase that greater fighters like erik and marco had. mostly juan's fans are disappointed erik and marco fans that want someone to beat manny who beat their man past their prime. if it wasn't for manny , juan just wouldn't make money. that's why you don't see guzman-marquez , marquez-valero , etc. john-marquez only happened because the ABC orgs forced their hand. funny how juan doesn't beg for a john rematch......

true. but he really had no choice. even with all the concessions he wouldn't make a 1/3 of that fighting anyone else. i think he only made $750k for the barrera fight and barrera is a legend with a large following. how much would he make for a guzman-marquez fight? $350K tops. and joan is much more difficult for juan than manny imo.

that's why i don't really blame juan for going after a rubber match. he really has no choice. he's not trying to disrespect manny or disrespect the filipino people. it's just promotion. it's business. it's not crying. he is kinda whining but we're talking about his job here. to get $1-2 million dollars for me and my family? ****! i'd act like a **** or whine or ***** or cry...... **** i'd do anything i had to.
