Floyd would fight Gomez asap.
In your MOST HUMBLE opinion..

a win for gomez would be exciting but at the same time it mixes up the welterweight division again.
right now cotto is the clear front runner for number 1 contender to fight floyd. if gomez beats him then there is no clear front runner.
if cintron wins it forces a 3rd margarito/cintron fight and provides more excitement and action for the welterweight division and boxing in general.
then the winner from the 3rd fight would go on to either fight quintana or williams (mattering who is the winner of the rematch...unless williams wins then it would come down to the winner of the 3rd fight)...
then from there you have cintron v. either quintana or williams...and the winner from there either fights cotto (if he's still not fought floyd by that time) or goes on to fight floyd.
its logical and makes the most sense to do it that way.
maybe the winner has to go through cotto to be the clear number 1 contender even if cotto loses to floyd (to establish their dominance in the division).Comment

and to those saying mayweather would fight gomez is crazy.
just because gomez gets 1 big win (arturo gatti isnt that big of a win considering he's out of his prime) that doesnt mean floyd fights him...
besides cotto is a bigger name than gomez; if floyd thinks there isnt any money in fighting cotto then there is DEFINATELY no money in fighting gomez...
gomez would have to fight more of the top welterweights to prove his spot as number 1 contender...
he's have to fight the likes of quintana, williams, margarito, cintron, judah, mosley, etc. etc. etc.
he would have to fight probably at least 3 of the guys i mentioned above to get a floyd fight.
only way floyd would take a gomez fight right away would be to say, "ha! i beat the number 1 contender in the welterweight division"...which he might...but i think its more likely he doesnt and goes for a big money fight to be honest.Comment

Simply put, it makes Floyd appear even more to be the dominant welterweight in the world now. If Cintron were to win impressively enough he could be a viable future challenger to him.Comment

If Gómez wins, we will never see Mayweather fight Cotto, then he will fight Gómez, win by UD, fight Hatton again, retire, and the boxing press will call him either the GOAT, or top 3 of all time. Then I throw up.
I won't comment on the Cintrón win because that fight is too close to call, in my opinion, and because Margarito should do exactly what Cintrón is doing, trying to avenge his loss (in Margarito's case, his losses).
And after this one, Cotto should go after Quintana again, or better yet, against Paul Williams. For some reason a Cintrón/Cotto fight doesn't interest me much.Comment
