"There are plenty of interested people waiting for the WBA to make official the announcement of whether they will sanction the upcoming Anthony Mundine super middleweight defense against Sam Soliman.
In the last few days, both Jeff Wald, the Executive Producer of The Contender, who promotes Soliman, and a source who wants to rename nameless for the time being, have told me that it looks as though Mundine-Soliman will be sanctioned.
The WBA, for their part, have told me that nothing if official yet but that an answer should be coming in the next few days.
Not only are Mundine and Soliman waiting, so if former world titlist Mikkel Kessler, who issued a release last week stating that he was named the mandatory challenger for Mundine’s title and he was attempting to block the Soliman bout.
But regardless of how the WBA rules in this matter, Kessler will remain a super middleweight and has no intention of moving up to light heavyweight to fight for the title left vacant by the retirement of Danny Green two weeks ago.
“I have never had plans of moving him up to light heavyweight,” promoter Bettina Palle told me on Tuesday regarding the rumors that had been reported by multiple outlets. “I don’t know where that comes from.”
Still no news whatsoever as to who Kessler might fight next. We'll probably know around this time next year.......
