    Bute's injury is SERIOUS!

I picked this up from the knockoutnetwork:

"IBF super middleweight titlist Lucian Bute is usually all smiles but was less jovial yesterday when he met the press to discuss the knee injury that will keep him out of the gym for the next six weeks.

Bute injured his right knee several months ago while playing soccer and it’s been bothering him ever since but the pain would usually go ahead with physical therapy.

However, he aggravated the injury while training a few days ago and was diagnosed with a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear. The doctor ordered Bute to take six weeks off training and then to restart his physical therapy. The hope is to avoid surgery, which would take him out of action for as long as six months.

Bute, who has until May 19 to make an optional defense of his title, will likely now head to his mandatory title defense against top rated Librado Andrade sometime in the Fall."

Such a long lay-off is obviously unfortunate and lets hope for a complete recovery. A kneeinjury as this is very tricky indeed.

This incident prompts some interesting effects; I mean Andrade is his mandatory. Does this mean that he is available for a fight before facing Bute?Miranda anyone?

Good reporting Bat. Andrade's people will probably want to see if Bute needs surgery and whether they will be fighting for a vacant title or not. Andrade is represented by Al Haymon, and he has a lot of pull in boxing so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Andrade will have a lot more value if he has a title, so I don't see them risking his position.
