but against floyd being 3 inches taller and with a longer reach it'll be a lot harder for floyd to jump in and out on antonio than with a 5'7 cotto with a 67 inch reach.

length gives speed problems. that's why everyone thought diego could give floyd a run for his money. too bad chico gives up his height when he fights though.
You're using the Paul Williams argument that proved to be so foolish after Quintana worked him.

Length doesnt mean anything for Margarito because he loops his punches, and doesnt fight tall.

Margarito. He throws a ****load of punches with good power attached and the key to beatin Floyd is to smother him and outwork him. Cotto's a much better boxer than Tony but he's economical in his punch output cuz he's looking for accuracy. Not that Cotto can't beat him too, but you can't wait to land flush accurate shots on Floyd cuz he's too ****in fast.

well if he doesn't fight "tall" against floyd then that would be his own undoing.

you can negate speed with a long , hard jab. not all the time but you can.

i doubt antonio loops his jabs......

i think oscar would've beat floyd if he kept jabbing.

jab , jab , jab all night long. won't guarantee anything against a talent like floyd but if you're a taller , longer reached fighter it's your best chance. a lot harder to counter a much taller fighter who throws long , hard jabs than to counter a shorter , shorter reached fighter with a swarming style.

it'd be boring but that's how you beat floyd. (if it can be done in his prime)

Absolutely. Marg would not look good at all against Floyd IMO.

he doesn't have to look good. all he needs is to catch floyd coming in. keep him away with your jab and make it hard for floyd to come in. he'll have to come in to score points. keep him occupied with your jab and hopefully you can catch him with a "lucky" overhand coming in.

height and length is very beneficial against slick guys like floyd. vernon's length bothered mosley. tarver's bothered roy's. not saying it's a given. slick guys like mosley , floyd and roy has had their share of tall victims but it helps.
you can't outbox those guys but if you are taller MAYBE (big maybe) you can outjab them though.
