Godd analysis of the punch numbers. I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Feliciano has no power but sheer volume + stamina made for a tough challenge to Cintron. Stamina, volume, and power makes Marg more dangerous, in addition to the confidence of having kicked his ass bad already. Cintron might put up a better fight this time but I still think Tony will stop him and take his belt.Comment

Dude, you are running wild with the "Margarito Groupie of the Year Award" that usually belongs to ViVa. Not long ago, I stated that I don't see Cotto losing to Gomez. Or like you said, NO WAY IN HELL. Contrary to upsets like Douglas agaisnt Tyson, among others... Cotto is too mentally focused and way better skilled to lose to Gomez. But since recent rumors have Cotto leaving his trainer, it makes me wonder how focused will Cotto be knowing that might be his last fight with Evagelista. Small advantage to Gomez. Will that be enough for Gomez to upset Cotto? We will find out on April 12th.
Now back to Cintron-Margarito. You love to use the phrase "plain and basic common sense". Let me give you some fool-proof comparison.
Age: Kermit 28, Margarito 30
Size: Kermit & Margarito = 5'11
Reach: Kermit 74', Margarito 73'
In other words, age, size and reach are equal. Anatomically, this is an even fight. When it comes to styles, they are both orthodox stance fighters who rely in their power. IMO, Kermit got the advantage in power. Margarito got a vast advantage in experience and mental stamina. They both had gone to war and fight for over 8-9 rounds brawling their way to victory. Wins agaisnt Estrada, and Reid, says a lot of Cintron. Wins agaisnt Clottey and Cintron says alot about Margarito. sTILL, none of those names are BIG NAMES in order to give one of them full and blind advantage over the other one. (not to mention the losses to Paul Williams and Daniel Santos)
I would love to say that Emmanuel Stwart has made a better boxer out of kermit Cintron, but I can't. It remains to be seen. But one thing I can tell you is that Kermit has improved his style and is boxing better and using the jab way more than he did before his loss to Tony. In the other hand, Margarito has shown that can be outboxed, specially by southpaw fighters. None of them are in the TOP 3 WWs. Wake up and smell the coffee, if Tony loses, he may as well stay away from the Boxing Championship World with 6 loses.
No matter what your nationality is, if you really know boxing you can't say **** like "no may in hell", specially on a fight between two "similar" fighters. IMO, April 12th will mark the day that Kermit shows he is a good boxer or just another fighter with a big punch. It's going to be a close fight in which whomever stablishes his gameplan first will win. AND THAT MY FRIEND IS PLAIN AND BASIC COMMON SENSE.Comment

the only way kerm wins this is if he places his shots well, and doen't paw a lazy jab like he does most of the time, cause tony eats those ****s for breakfast, straight punches, jabs and straight hands,,maybe some shorter crisper hooks and uppercuts cause of margo's wide punches,i think manny knows this.that's his jetski on the river stix.Last edited by AntonTheMeh; 04-09-2008, 04:12 PM.Comment

It's nice that you took the time to write such a long response to my original post my borikua friend. In regards to me hyping Tony after VIVA's unfair banning, all I gotta say is someone has to carry the torchDude, you are running wild with the "Margarito Groupie of the Year Award" that usually belongs to ViVa. I am not the only one who thinks Cintron will not get passed Tony, just do a research about this topic and you'll see 90-95% of the people agreeing with my statement. The low percentage of people who share your opinion are most likely borikuas rooting for their fighter, and that is fine with me, you gotta represent your own.
I will give credit to Cintron as I have in numerous posts, the guy has a rocket of a right, he could stop pretty much any other fighter in his weight division with a well connected right hand to the mug, but having read that Cintron landed a higher % of power punches the first two rounds on their first fight according to the compubox statistics on this report and from watching their first fight it clearly showed Tony can just walk through his big shots unscarred, so tell me what makes you think this time around it will be a different story? Steward on his corner? just ask Taylor, Lee, and a few other of his fighters how well did it do for them
The report also points out the fact that Cintron does not fight well under pressure and they point out the Feliciano fight, who is not a power puncher. So how can you say I am not applying plain and basic common sense when I said "NO WAY IN HELL"? Tony is a better puncher than Feliciano, and at this point Tony is hungrier than Cintron because he wants to reclaim a belt and get the big money fight against Cotto in the summer. Sure Cintron is going to try to avenge his loss and to land that money fight as well but if I were to choose between the two who the winner would be just basing my opinion on each of the two fighters heart and will, I would not hesitate to pick Margarito because Cintron seems too soft.
Come April 12th, we will know 100% who the winner is, but honestly I had Tony crowned the winner the day after the fight was announced months ago. Biased? naw I don't think so, it's just something called "plain and basic common sense" amigo.Last edited by Shalafi; 04-09-2008, 01:47 PM.Comment
