Joe Calzaghe Media Workout in Las Vegas - Public Invited
LAS VEGAS, NEV (April 8, 2008) – SOUTHPAW JOE C WALES, aka JOE CALZAGHE, will take target practice at a media workout This Wednesday! April 9, at 1 p.m. PT, on the mezzanine level of Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Calzaghe (44-0, 32 KOs), from Newbridge, Wales, boxing’s longest-reigning world champion, having held the super middleweight title since 1997 through a division-best 21 consecutive title defenses, makes his U.S. and light heavyweight debut on Saturday, April 19, when he challenges the legendary Bernard Hopkins (48-4-1, 32 KOs), from Philadelphia, for Hopkins’ light heavyweight title in a battle of Ring Magazine champions..
Calzaghe and his father/trainer, Enzo Calzaghe, the BWAA’s “Trainer of the Year,” will do interviews first, followed by Joe's training session, which will be open to the public.
Hopkins vs. Calzaghe: “Battle of the Planet,” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions, Frank Warren’s Sports Network and the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The 12-round light heavyweight championship fight will air live from the Planet Hollywood Ring on HBO’s World Championship Boxing, beginning at 9:45 p.m. ET / 6:45 p.m. PT.
