that kid does the same punch over and over again. People who ftry and fight like Roy jones or mayweather annoy me for some reason, Especially the Dirrell brothers.

It is ineffective in the Amateurs. It is good for preventing flush contact, but any contact is counted in the amateurs.

Usually fighters that use it get outpointed.

The main difference, is floyd is using the philly shell as it should be used.
Not just to copy a style, that kid was using pure reflexes, and a lead left.
He was trying to be flashy

you see floyd using his defence effectivly, parrying jabbing and bassicly being very complete. He isnt trying to be flashy, he's trying to win.

and this is at a very high level at the olympics. He's also using the conventional guard, and isnt just relying on reflexes. That makes it hard for the other fighter to get in some lucky shots, like in the other video. floyd is taking minimal damage.

Floyd only uses the philly shell when he is against the ropes and just puts his hands up when confronted in the middle of the ring. In the amateurs it is rarely used because it is easier to get knocked out doing it. Plus like shawn said it only deflects the damage and weakens shots doesn't stop them getting through like a Winky style does.

THere are so many dumb AMs with now experience. I went to the New Jersey Golden Gloves 5th section. 2 people kept their hands in front of their face. All the others kept the left hand at the waste and the right hand at their chest.

The left hand was working perfect for him and scoring points,it was working easily, why not keep using it? He mixed in great body shots too,and the defense was sick

He's also in the Beijing olympics this year,he looks naturaly gifted and can be a huge star in the pro ranks

He will be the first American boxer in more than 30 years to compete in two Olympic Games, the last American to do so was Davey Lee Armstrong in 1972 and '76
He is 21 years old, unless he does some growing they won't show him much love in the pro ranks. I hope that isn't the case though.
