Whats up with Boxing and Politics?

Vitali ran for mayor of Kiev, Pacquiao ran for a congressional seat to represent the 1st district of South Cotabato, Joe Mesi wants to run for New York Senate, and Juan Diaz plans on getting into it after boxing. I am not knocking on these guys, its great they have things to do outside of boxing. But why politics? Gives them exposure?

I suppose its the ability that a politician has to change things, many boxers have had it hard coming up from rough areas, maybe they see the chance to make things better? Others have gone down the route of religion e.g. Foreman for the same kind of reasons.

Its not that they are looking for exposure, they have already had enough through their careers where alot of people know them. I liked the reply about them coming up the hard way and wanting to help and such. I believe that true. Hilmer Kenty is in with the city government of Detroit. I know we've had some black eyes from some crooked people, but Hilmer I am sure stands proudly so far above all of that. Hilmer is class........Rockin'

Once a professional wrestler became Governor of Minnesota, all bets were off.

it's quite simple. boxers fight in the ring for personal glory. politicians campaign for personal glory too. it's really not that much different.
