    Fights That Didn't Happen

Watched the usual Tyson marathon on ESPN Classic today, which of course ended with the Buster loss. Got me thinkin about some big fights that didn't happen for some reason. Tyson v Holyfield in 1990 woulda been the **** but we missed out. What other fights that were close to happening or shoulda happened come to your mind? I'm talkin about in the past, not current stuff like Hatton-Witter, Miranda-Kessler, or Floyd-any of the several people fans want to see him fight.

      Lennox Lewis-Rid**** Bowe

Bowe threw his WBC belt in the trash can, because he and Newman decided to milk their HBO contract for millions against easier opponents.

      Salvador Sanchez-Eusebio Pedroza

Sanchez didn't seem to have much interest in fighting Pedroza. It would've been a very interesting matchup.

      Larry Holmes-Gerrie Coetzee

Fell through due to financial problems.

        Rocky Marciano vs Floyd Patterson

Patterson was going to be Marciano's next opponent but Rocky decided to retire.

        Ray Leonard vs Aaron Pryor

Leonard didn't want to fight Pryor so the fight never happened.

        Mike McCallum vs Hearns/Leonard

Hearns and Leonard didn't want to fight McCallum. Shame because McCallum is probably one of the best fighters in the 80's that doesn't get mentioned enough nowadays.

Trinidad vs Quartey - fight was signed then fell thru.

Mosley vs Kostya tszyu - Shane moved right past 140 to Welterweight.

Duran vs Pryor - Duran went straight to Welter from lightweight it would have been a great fight no doubt.

Floyd vs Casamayor/Freitas - They were the best other Jrlightweights but the Showtime vs HBO fued prevented those fights.

Roy Jones vs Dariusz Michalczewski - This fight should have been made but both parties could never come to a deal.

Roy will be Calzaghes last fight. Vice versa. Both will retire after it.

Foreman vs Holmes (in the 70s / 80s or 90s!)

                  Frazier vs Norton

Bowe vs Tyson (it was never in the making but would have been great circa 1990/91).

                  Jones vs Benn

                  Marciano vs Liston

                  Leonard vs Hagler 2!

                  Hamed vs Moralles

Naseem Hamed vs Juan Manuel Marquez

Marquez was Hamed's mandatory for over a year but Hamed refused to fight him and instead went with the supposedly 'easier' option in Barrera, we all know how that turned out.
