    Molitor wins in 12

But would get killed against Israel Vasquez.

He outclassed his Mexican opponent Fernando Beltran Junior (30-2-1) to improve to 27-0 (10). Beltran has never been stopped bu there were a number of occasions in which a more aggressive fighter would have pushed for a stoppage particularly in the later rounds when Beltran's three attempts at making weight started to catch up to him.

Molitor was a class above Beltran but he certainly didn't deserve to win by the margins on the cards (120-107, 120-107, 119-118 - Beltran was penalized a point in the 9th for repeated low blows) which smacked of a hometown decision. I scored it 118-109 for Molitor.

I'd like to see the Canadian Kid step up the competition in his next fight. Despite the best blatherings of Russ Anber this wasn't a number one contender versus a champion, this was an alphabet titlist beating down a pay-to-challenge patsy. I'd like to see Molitor step it up in class in his next fight. I'm not talking about challenging Vasquez or Marquez because I think he would be torn apart at this stage, but at least he could look for a name top-ten fighter like Ponce De Leon.
