The old man versus the young gun-who do you root for?

Friends of mine who are avid bettors tell me it's one of their prinicples and betting patterns to root for the up and coming fighter versus the veteran who's getting on years and their success rate is pretty good.

I on the other hand are thrilled when a fat vet such as Corrie Sanders lays out a physically gifted younger fighter such as Klitschko with the six pack abs, etc. See Casamayor-Katsidis, Campbell-Diaz, George Foreman-Michael Moorer, Klitschko-Lewis, etc history is replete with old guys beatin the odds but it's not always so wise when betting dough.
So who do you root for? The young gun or the aging lion?

I usually root for the younger fresher fighter
    21.74%

I usually root for the cagey vet
    13.04%
    3
I don't discriminate between age and youth
    39.13%

I enjoy it when the underdog wins, no matter if they are young or old

If I'm neutral I'll always pick the old guy.

Crap didn't read the last option.

The underdog. Which is typically the old guy

It comes down to which style and personality I like better, but more often than not I root for the younger fighter.

It depends on the fight, the situation, and their skills and styles. Andrew Golota is pushing 40 and i would happily bet on him to upset the 28 year old Samuel Peter. Where as i am favoring Dawson over Johnson because Dawson has the skills and the odds in his favor. He trains properly, is motivated, and he has the skills. Peter come in out of shape, trains poorly and anyone could upset him.

I admire Chad for taking such a dangerous fight. That being said, I still want him to lose.
Does anyone really believe Peter is the age people say he is.
I don't know maybe he just looks older to me.

Why would you want him to lose? Boxing fans should want to see a young, talented, skillful champion evolve in the sport because it will make it more fun to watch. Glen Johnson is on his way out of the sport soon and is on the decline. Besides, No boxing fan that lives in the U.S wants to see a rematch between Johnson and Woods or any of the other old guys. That time has passed and its time for a young champion in Dawson to clean the division.

Also, i personally believe that Peter is older than he is as well.

I am discriminating based on his age. Being older, I want age to beat youth, right or wrong because it doesn't happen often.

Don't get me wrong. I like Dawson's style and skill. I am just into the last hurrah of fighters.
Old guys get beat and get their careers ended soon enough eventually.
                It's a given.
Whereas Chad loses, he will still be in money fights and have a chance to be a champion in the future.

A lot of other factors weigh-in as to who you root for. If an old guy IMO has fought on too long I root for the youth and hope the old gets the message in a dignifying way. Other times I very much enjoy an old guy giving an over-hyped prospect a boxing-lesson.

So I'm on the fence in this one. But I most like to watch some over-hyped dude get a licking so I voted for the cagey vet option.

i dont discriminate but i will say the young one because he may be around more longer and we will get to see more potential matchups from the young one.
