    Joe Mesi's future in boxing?

I read recently that he is running for senate in NY..but still dreams of becoming HW champ.

What do you guys think about Joe's comeback will he ever earn a title shot? Is he good enough? Has he missed the boat because of his injury? How good was he in his prime?

Joe Mesi... heavyweight champ? .. Not with Klitschko around, no way.

He'd lose to every top heavyweight.

Yeah from what Ive seen of him lately not too impressive but I never saw him fight before his injury. Still I think he may do better with guys like Chambers and Povetkin or Ibragamov but Klitchko dont think so.

I never thought much of him before the injury, and think less of him now...

He could if he continues get a title shot...but will he earn one?...no...

Joe Mesi was the type of heavyweight that you got excited about in a stagnant division. He showed some very promising things; there was skill there- sure, he had flaws but before he got injured it wasn't as if he had arrived. Mesi was a rising stock in the division; not an elite. So, we'll never know what could have been without that injury if he got more fights, polished and improved, and was able to stay active. Since the injury I think he's shown diminished motor reflexes; maybe some neurological impairment. Not enough to damage his life; but enough to damage his chances of being an elite fighter.

If Joe Mesi really is running for senate I think it shows he is aware that his career isn't going to go the way he dreamed and he's trying to diversify his involvements; or, in other words, that he has one foot out the door.

The HBO hype train was in full effect after he put to sleep the touch of sleep DaVarryl Williamson.
He fought and beat Monte Barrett but was dropped I believe and then Jirov dropped him a couple of times, so to me he was rather chinny when going against the top competition.
Pre-injury he did look lots better, but he was never a world beater except maybe in Buffalo.

I guess he's pretty popular there so maybe a local political job would give him better odds of winning a senate race later.
Right now he loses if he steps up in the boxing ring or the political ring.

Baby Joe could have been the next big thing, sadly well never know as injury has robbed him of what he could have been. Hope he becomes senate of NY

              God bless you joe

His future looks BLEEK. I dont see him beating anyone in the top ten, and Wladimir would just brutalize him, even if Mesi was never injured in the first place. IMO he just doesnt have the tools to become champion, even in this weak division.

Imo he was never going to be as big as his hype. pre or post injury.
