Can people PLEASE stop saying Arum is scared of Winky vs. Pavlik

Arum had the Lockett fight made specifically to stir up some interest in a Calzaghe-Pavlik fight, so how in the hell can people say Arum is scared of putting Pavlik in the ring with a fighter like Winky, IMO who is much, much less of a threat to Kelly's 0 than Joe is? Can the people who keep spewing this nonsense please explain?

I don't think Winky is much of threat.

I would have liked to see Duddy instead of Lockett though, shame about his cuts. Duddy would have taken it to the late rounds at the very least and had his moments.

Lockett is an averaged sized Light middle who moved up, whose power isn't as effective. He has only mixed in european class, and he has an average defence, and he is a front foot fighter.

Its Calzaghe/Manfredoesque but I suppose Pav deserves an easier fight.

I agree. I'd much rather have seen Duddy than Lockett, at the garden, because it's 20 min drive for me, and because I like Duddy, even though he'd be beaten to oblivion. I'm not really interested in Lockett at all, other than the interest in seeing him get his head smashed in. But if it makes a Calzaghe fight with Pav possible, it's got some positive aspects to it.

I don't think Arum is scared of Winky. Pavlik will beat up Winky pretty bad.

It's not a money fight. Winky can't get any fights, because he's ****ing boring. Which, I think is fair.

If i'm not mistaken he also hasn't won in 2 years.. Winning is generally a prerequisite to title shots.. However, I do appreciate his losses/draws were very close.. But not winning combined with a boring fight style and inactivity.. It doesn't add up to demand.

Arum is a businessman protecting his investment. Pavlik is a big name now. He wants some mileage outta him. He's not gonna throw Kelly in with Wright, a technical and defensive master, he'd much rather feed Lockett to him (that's gonna be 1 hell of a brutal massacre).

Winky vs. Pavlik would be nothing but a battle of the basic 1-2 combo. Whoever has the most success with that is going to win.
