I guess what Im trying to say is Cotto does not need Mayweather. He has his own legacy.

He doesn't need Mayweather if he does that, but boxing in general needs superfights like this to get made, and Cotto's popularity will never be as high without a real marquee matchup even if he cleans out the rest of 147. Really only DLH and Floyd fit that bill around his weight, and beating Floyd means a lot more than beating DLH.
