Khan v Kindelan - Something Not Quite Right?

The prospect of Khan - Casamayor (hopefully) got me thinking about his fights with Mario Kindelan.

Surely, surely that second fight had to be a fix. Kindelan hadn't lost in an obscene amount of time, I believe, and had beaten some now pro ATGs.

That was the first non-olympics fight he had that was broadcast live on ITV in the UK. I think Khan had signed with Warren at that point, and obviously this was the fight that was to launch his TV, prime time career. Warren wouldn't have set that up if there was the slightest chance he'd lose would he?

I'm no expert on Kindelan, I only really know what I've heard, so I'd really appreciate the opinions of anyone who is, particularly as to how good he actually was.

I hear that MAYBE the fix could of been in. Really I didn't see the fight so I can't really comment. I can say that it was a great story to go out on.

Maybe it was, because Kindelan didn't look good, but maybe he just hadn't been training much because he was supposed to be retired. Either way i wouldn't be surprised. It was a needless fight really, what did it prove? Khan proved he could hang with Kindelan at the Olympics and was gaining on him as the fight progressed, he just gave up too many points in the first round.

Thats the main reason for my su****ion. It was indeed the PERFECT story on which to launch Khan's pro career.

The fight was strange. Khan just did what he does, tons of punches and aggression, and it really looked like he won. The thing is that Kindelan didn't do what he'd done in the olympics at all, in fact he didn't do much really.

If I remember, the commentators were waxing lyrical over Khan negating Kindelan's game, but I've seen all Khan's pro fights, and tactics is in no way his strongest suit! Kindelan was supposed to be this hyper-talented boxer, and I just can't see how that Khan could have done it.

At the end of the day though, who knows.

My memory might not be all it could be, but I remember Kindelan outclassing Khan totally at the olympics. Khan did gain, but Kindelan made damn sure he didn't gain by enough to win.

Khan won the first round in the Olympics, Kindelan dominated the 2nd and won the 3rd by a close margain.
