Amir khan promised world title shot this year

Amir Khan has been promised a world title fight this year by Frank Warren.

Khan has always said he wants to be world champion while he is 21 - and Warren is confident he can deliver one of the four major crowns before he turns 22 in December.

The lightweight sensation could be just one fight away from fulfilling his dream if he beats Dane Martin Kristjansen in Saturday's WBO title eliminator in front of his home fans at Bolton Arena.

"The plan is for Amir to fight for a world title this year," said Warren. "We will see what happens with the WBO after this fight.

"Nate Campbell and Joel Casamayor are now the two fighters on Amir's radar.

"He's getting better all the time. I don't just want him to fight for a world title, I want him to win it and defend it."

I wouldn't take Warrens word on it. Amir will want one and needs one but Frank Warren has said thisa few times in the past and hasn't delivered, i will believe it when i see it.

        do it Warren.

They were all over Katsidis, but I guess a guy like Casamayor could just old man him.

None the less make that fight. Amir has **** all to lose.

Good. I think Khan might as well go for it, in Earl and St. Clair he's beaten opponents who are/ were borderline world class, so its not as though a title shot is even surprising at this point.

In terms of whether Khan has anything to lose, I think a loss might seriously damage his (huge) mainstream poularity and hence his ability to make money, but in terms of boxing it isn't going to make him a bum overnight. He clearly isn't.

Casamayor is the fight I'd like to see. It would be kind of like Kindelan all over again, what with being against a veteran cuban counterpuncher. If he won it would be a nice symmetry. I think in that fight we'd see how good Khan really is. To win Khan would have to demonstrate either superb boxing skills or absolutely devastating speed and power.

I wish katsidis still had a title though. Katsidis / Khan would be immense.

If so, it can only be a good thing - we need to see a few fighters pushed early so they have the possibility of establishing a lengthy legacy like the great fighters of old. Salvador Sanchez didn't become a legend by waiting until he was 25 to step up.

                Sad ain't it?

Warren will just see which one of those apparent "titles" is vacant and then find a **** fighter for Khan to fight for it.

                  I seriously hope not.

I think Khan is making the right noises.

Fight the best guys if you can, then get the **** out by the time your 26.

I'm sure Khan is set for life now anyway.

It's all about glory. If he gets beat, he can whack a few more average fighters.

Frank is being more daring recently, lets give him a lil credit.

Enzo in with Haye........unbelievable for Warren.
