Pacquaio started at 106 I belive too but he turned pro when he was 16/17 years old.
Actually, part of the reason for me saying this is because of Floyd. Your comparing the 2 as if they have equal paths but I think Pac is much different then Floyd. Floyd has moved up alot but Floyd moves up unaturally, is always fighting bigger guys, and he doesnt gain much weight. Pac is exactly the opposite.

Floyd was at 130 and coming into the ring at 138 pounds, he goes to LW and comes into the ring at 139 pounds, he goes to 140 and comes into the ring at a 144 pounds, he goes to WW and comes into the ring at 146 pounds, and he fights Oscar at 154 coming into the ring at 148 pounds. Thats totally different then Pac. Floyd is outweighed by a ton in most of his fights. Pac moves up and is immediatly the biggest and strongest guy in the division. Pac is at 130 coming into the ring at 145 pounds but Floyd is fighting Oscar at 154 and at WW while coming into the ring at just 3 pounds heavier then Pac at 130. Its insane. He was definatly bigger against JMM at 130 then Floyd was against Gatti at 140 and probally just 1 or 2 pounds smaller then Floyd was against Zab & Baldy at WW

like I said Floyd jr can come in light cause its Boxing you got gloves and you can slip and block punches and move around the ring...if this was say wrestling floyd jr would get overpowered but its the sweet science.

if floyd jr used pacmans style of fighting at those weights he would of faced the same fate as his uncles and dad they all got knocked silly alot.

but floyd jr can get away with being small like sweet pea did because they are elusive and slick and dont get hit with many punches or take extreme chances.

They were just at the lower weights because they killed themselves to make it but they shouldve never started off at those low weight class. Duran was super huge when he moved up and Pac is even bigger in a P4P sense.

Wathcing Pac against JMM, he looked like a super hero. He was crazy big. Would anyone be shocked if he went to 135 and came in the ring over 150 pounds?
Who knows these days. I will say this though, the fact that he won a 112 lb title is almost an anamoly now. He didn't go from 112 to 115. He went straight to 122, which tells me something about how legit his 112 lb. status was.

I remember when he was fighting at 122 he used to weight 136-139 on the day of the fight. To me that's ridiculous. If he weighed in the high 130s the day of the fight he should be fighting at 130. The fact that fighters are allowed to get away with stuff like that is a black eye on the integrity of the sport.

So, I think it's good that Pacquiao keeps moving up in weight. He clearly realizes that he does not belong at the weight classes he's fighting at. So, he may be juicing. I don't know. But what would bother me more is if he's taking stuff to artificially cut weight so that he can fight at weight classes that are way below his actual fit and trim weight.

But that's why people should fight at their fit and trim weight. If Pacquiao is really 140 lbs. when he's fit and trim he should fight at 140. There'd be no need for guys to be as elusive as they are sometimes if there weren't guys who fight 2 or 3 weight classes below what they should be fighting at. The fact that very few people seem to care about excessive weight loss and gain in the days before and after fights is a problem.

Like look at Ronald Hearns. When he was playing college basketball he was in the 180s and 190s. Now, he's fighting at 154, but weighing almost 170 when he actually steps into the ring. That man should be fighting at 168 or not be fighting at all. Look at when he fights regular 154 lbers. They're 6 inches shorter than him and it's not even a real fight.

Why do we have 17 weight classes if fighters are going to make a mockery of the weigh-in system?

There is no mockery of the weight system. Fighters cut weight precisely because they are aware they will have a size advantage. But they are all professional. Fights get made with fighters going down a weight, Fights get made with fighters going up. Its not difficult to lose weight in a short time with the kind of training they have. Its also not difficult to gain weight especially with the frames lowerweight fighters have. Just because Pac has the mental discipline to cut weight but also decide to eat and drink alot more than what most guys do after weighing in does not mean they are on the juice.
