thank you floyd for fighting through all of teh adversity you have to fight through to remain atop of the p4p list. i have watched you since you fought in the olympics and in the amateurs. it's a shame that you recieve so much hate from people, despite the fact that you have one of the greatest styles in the history of the sport, the sport that practically rasied me and you for that matter. you dedication to training inspired me when i was fighting myself to train harder until i had little to nothing left physically but much more mentally. a fighter of your ability deserves more credit than he or she'll ever know, but because of how you conduct yourself out of the ring, you get bashed constantly by many people who look for reasons to do so and they even bash your accomplishments, to the point where i'm sure it isn't even worth caring about the sport anymore. no matter what you do, good or bad, someone always finds something to criticize you for, and it's not fair to you and what you put into this sport. you give back to your home city with your foundation or pay for the golden glove tournament, and as good as that looks and sounds, somebody says it's a pr stunt. you go on dancing with the star and get criticized for not training hard for an undefeated fighter who would bring the best out of you, knocks him out, and gets criticized for not fighting another fighter your own size, when that fighter is bigger than you, but not better than you and would lose to you imo. boxing trainers turned commentators like manny steward who publicly said you would be a great champion becomes a puppet on a string to larry merchant and bleeds his opinions instead of his own and claims that he never considered you great. other fighters take shots at you claiming what they'll do to you and many people believe them until you defeat them, only for that to be taken away from you, with a bunch of excuses from many people abroad. how do you maintain this without losing it? well, you have been doing an amazing job thus far, and your true fans appreciate your legacy, and that what counts and i'm sure it's what keeps you going. money keeps you going, and for good reason. you have four kids that you think the world of, and would die for, so get as much out of the sport that allows poeple to bash you for as you can. i know how much you love boxing, it shows on your face when you defeat your opponents and you cry with joy combine with pain because you know, no matter what you do, you will be hated. you, imo, are slowly become a national treasure to the sport of boxing, and i really indeed admire your heart, because although it isn't too hard to poke holes in your logic at times, the hardwork you put into the sport of boxing is indeed something special.
so, this thread was meant to be another floyd bashing thread, but let it be known, that you'll always have fans to defend you and your legacy. you're bringing more exposure to the sport, and you are indeed an all time great as far as your skills go and your record and training regiment and list of opponents. but, more importantly, the basis of all that lies on the shoulders of your heart, which you have a lot of. keep doing what you do brother, because someday, you'll be missed and remembered as a legend of the sport, the greatest fighter of your generation and of the greatest ever, if not already.
