    How should Cortez ref Hopkins-Calzaghe??

It seemed like a lot of people felt that Cortez shouldnt have been so quick to break up Mayweather and Hatton when they got in close, and some went as far as saying that Cortez cost Hatton the fight...Well, since Hopkins likes to hold a lot, should Cotez listen to the people complaining and just let them fight, or should he break them up quick like a lot of yall hated? I really want the opinions of the Hatton supporters that were so angry that Cortez was quick to beak up Mayweather and Hatton, and since a lot of them are now Calzaghe supporters do you want the fight reffed the same even though it was a "horrible job" a few months ago?

Ref it the same way he reffed Hatton-Mayweather, because if he lets Hopkins clinch and punch like Hopkins likes to do nowadays, it shows that he's firm but he's not fair.

But people said he wasnt fair the first time and did a horrible job reffing, shouldnt it be his job to improve since people were saying how bad he was, or do people just want him to be "bad" again?

What I want to know is, is he biased against British fighters because if he lets Hopkins clinch and punch and not break them apart, then I would think is.

joe cortez is a biased referee. they should get the referee that taylor and pavlik had during their frist fight.

I can see where you going with this.
The complaints with Cortez in the Mayweather v Hatton fight were not so much they he didn't let Hatton clinch (that would be ridiculous) but that he broke them apart whenever they came together therefore keeping it on the outside which would obviously favour Mayweather and that he warned and deducted points from Hatton for fouls or hitting on the advised break but ignored Mayweather's repeated use of of the elbows etc.

The outcome of the fight IMO was not affected by the referee as I feel Mayweather is just a better fighter than Hatton, end of story.

In regard to Calzaghe v Hopkins, as long as Cortez referree's the fights fairly without bias or favour then its fine by me.

He should stay out the way. The only thing he should do is prop Hopkins back up in the corner after Calzaghe knocks him down and let the Executioner get executed.

As long as Cortez keeps the fight moving I'll be happy. However, if Hopkins starts coming off the ropes with his head like he did against Winky, Cortez has got to have the balls to call it as such. Point deduction. Or disqualification.

There's no place in the sport for that kind of ****.
