this place is full of talk about all these dudes being scared to fight other dudes. sorry, but i have a hard time believing any pro boxer is so scared of a man that he will not fight him. especially when you talk about the elites, floyd, hatton, etc... it is thrown around here so often it seems like every other fighter is afraid to lace the gloves up anymore. just want to know your thoughts on all the scared talk? i know everyone gets nervous b4 a fight, and such. i am not saying that. i am talking about avoidance of fights all together out of fear.

17yeah they are scared, and avoid these big fights out of fear29.41%5hell no, they are professionals and being too scared to fight a guy is unacceptable.70.59%12Tags: None -
you make a valid point, but if i may refute or clarify -
if you talkin about a fighter like Mike Tyson - i'm sure there were many opponents who were "scared" of him.
more relevant - if you talking about Floyd Mayweather Jr., when people say he's "scared" to fight, oh I don't know - Miquel Cotto - what they are mainly referring to is that Floyd does not take any risks in fighting someone who is a danger, is on his level or higher. He is "scared" to lose. He is essentially SCARED to risk his undefeated record and the status of P4P. That's why he's giving the public ****** **** like Mayweather v Big Show, and the rematch with De la Hoya and Hatton.Comment

Kessler may well be scared of Miranda. Dude is ferocious. There something so primal in Miranda and he sees it. The way Miranda fights and his inherent punching power is something to fear. He is a risk and he is dangerous.
That would be a Crucial fight for Kessler and if he did end up losing it, which is highly possible, his career won't be the same. Team Kessler chose not to risk it and take another bout instead, something safer (*****).
I can see Kessler v Miranda happening later which would make bigger impact for both men, thing is, both have to keep winning.Comment

Many fighters want to maximize the income and minimize the risk by taking on lesser threats for good money.
It is like a business rather than a sport.
Kessler (by his own words) was looking forward to the fight with Miranda but trusted in his manager's judgement to go for other (possible world title) opportunities without even looking at the contract that was being offered.Kessler may well be scared of Miranda. It's not always about the fighters but rather the managers and the promoters.
I have seen a few of his fights and besides being a good boxer he has got a great fighter mentality. After my opinion he has only lost one fight as he was robbed against Arthur Abraham in Germany.
I'm really looking forward to fight again even though it's a short notice.http://www.mikkelkessler.com/default.asp?language=enuk#My manager chose to cancel the fight against Edison Miranda because the contract didn't fulfill our demands. I haven't seen the contract my self, but I have full confidence with my manager's choice.Last edited by TheGreatA; 04-01-2008, 08:07 AM.Comment

Who wasn't afraid of Mike Tyson back in the day? He is the epitome of a bad ass boxer, not to be ****ed with. I can't imagine being the other fighter waiting, waiting and anticipating him walking to the ring.
Remember, this is the guy that said he's gonna eat your babies and what not. lolComment

yes very true, but he still got in the ring and fought him, thqats what i mean. scared is natural in many cases, but scared enough to not climb in against someone in most cases to me is far fetched.Comment
