FLASH: Result of Spinks vs. Phillips changed. Spinks keeps title.
The official scoring in the IBF LMW titlefight between Cory Spinks and Verno Phillips was 116-112 and 115-113 for Phillips and 115-113 Spinks.
After a federal investigation regarding the scoring in this and other recent fights it has been announced that the card that said 115-113 Phillips was incorrect. The correct score should have been 114-114.
The fight is therefore a draw and Spinks will keep his title!
An official correction is expected from the IBF later today. The governing body also is believed to sanction an immidiate rematch.
