Mesi Eyes State Senate Run!
Monday, March 31 2008
Former world champion Vitali Klitschko might not be the only heavyweight involved in an upcoming election. Unbeaten former #1 rated heavyweight Joe Mesi is also an aspiring politician. Mesi told the Niagara Falls Reporter that he will officially announce his intentions regarding a run at the soon to be vacant 61st District New York State Senate seat at a news conference on April 5. "I never, ever plan on having a teary-eyed press conference announcing my retirement," he told the paper. "As far as boxing, I'll never say never, but I'm full time into this campaign right now. If I'm going to run, I'm going to be the hardest-working candidate and if elected, the hardest-working senator." Baby Joe also stated that he is "a loyal ******** and always have been."
