Unbeaten Dungiven light-welterweight Paul McCloskey had a comprehensive points win over former world champion Cesar Bazan in Letterkenny on Saturday.
McCloskey took 11 of the 12 rounds to claim a 100 to 91 victory.
He has won all of his 16 contests as a professional and his handlers are hoping that he will challenge European champion Colin Lynes later this year.
"It is early days but hopefully there are better things to come," said 28-year-old McCloskey. "I am ready to move on and you can only do that by fighting better fighters and beating better fighters."
