Is it considered a no-no to throw a "dominant hand" uppercut?

Buster Douglas shows how to do it and how to NOT do it.

      Douglas vs Tyson

      Douglas vs Holyfield (06:10)

NEVER start with an uppercut from a distance. Buster Douglas vs Holyfield is a prime example of that.

It's a no no to throw it as a lead punch from the outside. Marquez can do it, but that's Marquez.

Roy Jones probably had the best lead uppercut, he could get away with it because of his speed though.

Yea, throwing a lead upper is not recommended, unless you are as fast as Roy Jones Jr.

You can throw upper's from both hands and I think the punch that alot of fighter's neglect is the upper and especially the upper to the body. That's a great punch.....

ive really only seen Juan Manuel Marquez pull them off. but he can get away with a lot of **** from a distance which is pretty amazing.

"who lands an uppercut from the outside?"

It all depends on your position when throwng it

The best lead uppercut was thrown by Roy Jones . Now it's thrown by Juan Manuel Marquez.. Very dangerous, and a punch you usually see guys with tremendous natural talent throw consistently and land. Hamed threw it too.. even though he threw pretty much everything.
